Corporal John Penick and the 114th Illinois Infantry Regiment History

 

Corporal John Penick, aka John Pennick, was my 2nd Great-grandfather. He was born in 1832.He married Rachel C. Walters in Illinois on 24 Dec 1854. Rachel, or Catherine as she preferred, was born in 1837.

John Penick was a Civil War Union Arny soldier. He was enlisted as a Corporal in Company B, 114th Illinois Volunteer Infantry on Aug 9. 1862 and officially mustered in on September 18, 1862. He ser5ved through the end of the war, and was honorably mustered out on Vicksburg, Mississippi on August 3, 1864. He is listed in contemporary records as John Pennick.
