President Obama's First Year in Office

It doesn't seem like it's been a year since President Obama took his oath of office. It seems much longer. Following is a photo gallery of the highlights of the year taken by White House photographer Pete Souza.

Liberal Bloggers To Obama and Dems: We Told You So

This article at Huffington Post sums it up for me tonight. I am furious that the Repug won in Massachusetts tonight. Massachusetts, one of the most liberal states, solidly Democrat, gave it up tonight for a Cosmo centerfold who promised to block health care. What were they thinking???

Read it here. The article was written by political consultant and former advisor to Hillary Clinton, Peter Daou.

Beck Does Palin Interview Follow-up With O'Reilley

Sarah Palin on 'Hannity'

This is Sarah Palin's third day on Fox News. Tonight she meets up with Sean Hannity. Obviously, she is feeling more comfortable with Mr. Hannity, since she is visibly more animated and chatty.

Until I figure out how to get a video to pop up here, please enjoy the video by clicking here.

The Best of Sarah Palin

I love the internet. With over 1,004,000 hits on YouTube we have snippets of the very best of Sarah Palin, preserved for eternity. Oh yes, I forgot to post that Fox News announced today that Sarah is joining their news team and she will be heading up her own program. Maybe she will do a bit with Glenn Beck. They could call it "Crying & Lying".

The Cove: An Unforgettable Documentary

D olphins...they are magical creatures and one of the most fascinating and intelligent species on the planet. I remember being introduced to dolphins when "Flipper" debuted on television in the 60s. Today you can see trained dolphins in any number of venues all over the world.

Rick O'Berry was the man who captured and trained the first Flipper. Over the three years the popular program aired, several more dolphins were captured and trained as doubles. O'Berry lived and worked with the dolphins 24/7. He was riding a wave of success. Then one day one of his beloved dolphins swam into his arms, looked into his eyes and died. At that moment everything changed for O'Berry. After that he became an advocate for dolphins everywhere and began working to free dolphins in captivity.

The Cove is a documentary about O'Berry's quest to reveal the truth about the killing of huge numbers of dolphins off the coast of Japan, in a cove near the village of Taiji.

Gluten...hidden dangers.

Did you know that 99 % of people wo have a problem eating gluten, don't know it? I am going to do more research on gluten. The best way to find out if you have an issue with gluten is to eliminate it from your diet. That should be interesting. I think it is in most everything we like. Click on the headline to read more.

Celiac disease is caused by gluten sensitivity. Look here for more information about Celiac disease, gluten-free foods, and other interesting stuff.

January 1...Doonesbury cartoon

I love all things Sarah Palin...Check out this Doonesbury Cartoon for today.

Happy New Year 2010

It's a foggy morning here in Hanford, CA. The Rose Parade is over and the football games are going strong on all the TV stations. Welcome to a new decade.

Last year I resolved to quit smoking and I am proud to say that I was quite successful. Of course, quitting smoking was the least I could do considering what I was anticipating for 2009. I guess I knew it in my bones, but it was confirmed in February 2009 that I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Oh boy!

So, for most of the past year I have endured tests, blood work, chemotherapy, scans and radiation. But I can say with confidence, "I am cancer free!"

It's been a sedentary life, so I am looking forward to becoming increasingly active with this new year. I will continue to wear my pedometer and shoot for 10,000 steps in one day. So far, my record is approximately 7, 500 steps, so I have some stepping to do!

We are parked here at Four Seasons Mobile Park for another month, then we will pack up and move north to the Merced River RV Park near Turlock. We'll be able to visit with the grandkids there and get in some doctor visits for Butch and some massage therapy for me. Yeah!

This year will be better than the last in so many ways. My resolution for 2010 is to be myself...but a better self...one that is more compassionate, patient, humble, thankful, kind, helpful and loving. If I can manage all that with any amount of balance, it will be a very good year.
