It's a foggy morning here in Hanford, CA. The Rose Parade is over and the football games are going strong on all the TV stations. Welcome to a new decade.
Last year I resolved to quit smoking and I am proud to say that I was quite successful. Of course, quitting smoking was the least I could do considering what I was anticipating for 2009. I guess I knew it in my bones, but it was confirmed in February 2009 that I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Oh boy!
So, for most of the past year I have endured tests, blood work, chemotherapy, scans and radiation. But I can say with confidence, "I am cancer free!"
It's been a sedentary life, so I am looking forward to becoming increasingly active with this new year. I will continue to wear my pedometer and shoot for 10,000 steps in one day. So far, my record is approximately 7, 500 steps, so I have some stepping to do!
We are parked here at Four Seasons Mobile Park for another month, then we will pack up and move north to the Merced River RV Park near Turlock. We'll be able to visit with the grandkids there and get in some doctor visits for Butch and some massage therapy for me. Yeah!
This year will be better than the last in so many ways. My resolution for 2010 is to be myself...but a better self...one that is more compassionate, patient, humble, thankful, kind, helpful and loving. If I can manage all that with any amount of balance, it will be a very good year.
