Santorem Wants To Ban Teleprompters

Rick, Rick, Rick...today's news reveals that Rick Santorem wants to ban teleprompters...
“See, I always believed that when you run for president of the United States, it should be illegal to read off a teleprompter,” Santorum said at a Gulfport restaurant. “Because all you’re doing is reading someone else’s words to people.”

I find this amusing. If a President reads off a piece of paper or off index cards, then it's okay? I think Rick has a very limited knowledge of how things work. Presidents have speech writers. They write speeches. Yes, a President has input and may even write a rough draft, but the process involves several people. It's a collaborative effort.

Teleprompters allow the speaker to "address" an audience and engage them in the process. The speaker can use gestures, glance to the left or right and never miss a word.

Is this just another weak excuse at connecting with a wingnut base that loves to criticize President Obama for using a teleprompter...for whatever kind of petty reason? Come on people. Get real.
